1. Buy them a gift basket, these are a great idea. Gift baskets/Hampers are versatile and can contain anything, from the standard commercial baskets consisting of fine wine, chocolate, champagne, flowers, gourmet food to ones you make yourself, which can consist of anything.
Do they like movies, well, buy them some DVD`s, some movie posters, movie memorabilia, maybe a book a movie was based on, merchandise ie toys, mugs, t-shirts etc...line a basket/box, place the intems in and decorate.
Music fan, no fear, some CD`s, an MP3 player (you can get these for as little as £20), is there a biography of the a band member/singer. Download some lyrics of their favourite songs, or songs found on the CD from internet, there are numerous sites, print out and either place them in the basket/box or line/decorate the basket with them.
2. Personal bags. A great idea for a gift for someone close to you, is to get them something personal that they will use often, and keep close to them, ie a handbag, belt, scarve, gloves. Add to this general grooming equiptment, scissors, comb/brush, nail clippers, etc... A small bottle of perfume/aftershave, and put all the items in a small bag, maybe a washbag for the guys.
If they are a fitness person, new jogging pants, t-shirt, pedometer, fitness/nutrition related books.
Accessorize them, get hold of a belt, tie, socks, underwear, cufflinks, tie pin etc and put these in a small bag/travel bag.
3. Be creative, make your own gifts, there are the best types of gifts because of the time and effort you have to put into preparing and making them. Personalised Recipe Book, start collecting appropriate recipes, these could be your own, from books/magazines or internet, purchase a small, book to write them in. Copy them out in your neatest handwriting, you can also include illustrations. Decorate the outside of the book appropiately.
4. Personalised Towels or Clothes, personalized items can prove to be a delight for the recipent, especially if you have a special name or nickname for them. You can write whatever you want on, also if you have any artist talent, a pattern, picture etc...would go down a treat. Here are some links to shops selling fabric pens/paints.
5. Home Cooked Delights, another great gift is to bake cookies, cakes and other such stuff. The key here is to present them properly. Don`t just place them in a tin or jar. Get hold of a small box, place some crepe/tissue paper on the bottom, cut out some larger (2 x the size of the cookies) pieces of paper and form a cup shape (you can use ther palm of your hand for this), place the cookies in them and then place them in the box, cover with a large piece of paper, maybe add a message or poem and close the lid. You could also make a label to go on the lid if you want.
Try this, a Star Wars cookie jar, some Star Wars shaped cookies, see book, add a toy figure in the jar as a suprise, create a small message to go over the cookies before you close the lid, use the quotes in my Star Wars page.
6. Bizzare gift ideas, buy a trophy for the receiver or make/buy a certificate, this could be to mark a personal achievement/milestone or a made up one. Trophies can be bought and engraved whith whatever message you want. Certificates can be bought or created on a computer, in addition, buy a frame or scroll to place the certificate in.
